Court Allocation

At the Smashers our sessions are organised so that all players take an equal part in the running of sessions. There is no one person overseeing the process, so it is important that all players know their individual role and how to use BadBoard, our court allocation software.

Team Captains [TC]

Our system relies on Team Captains, whose job it is to run the session. Each game has a Team Captain, and an individual may be Team Captain several times during a session.

Who are Team Captains?
  • Any player can be chosen by BadBoard as Team Captain. The person whose name appears first in the Waiting to Play box is the designated Team Captain.
  • When first allocated, the box flashes red to alert that person. Whether you are a first time player with the Smashers or an old hand, you need to know what your role is, as at some stage you will be chosen as Team Captain.

All Players

  • Please listen carefully for your names to be called, either because you have been allocated as a Team Captain, or because you have been chosen for a game.
  • If at any time during the session you need to step away from the courts (for instance for a break or to go to the toilet), please ensure you 'Pause' yourself. To do this, right click on your name in the Waiting to Play list. Choose the option to 'Pause my Play'. Once you are ready to play again, right click your name and choose 'Continue my Play'.
  • If you decide to leave the session early, please ensure you remove your name from the Waiting to Play column. To do this, click the red circle to the right of your name.

Learn How the Badboard System Works

There is an excellent video below explaining how to use BadBoard.
Please ensure you are familiar with this before you come along.
If you have any questions please contact/email us: info@melbournesmashers.com.au, or ask a Coordinator.

Access to PC

  • Before the commencement of play, priority is given to taking payment and registering new players.
  • After commencement of play, priority for access to the PC is given to Team Captains making up games or marking games finished.
  • Any players wishing to pay court fees or register will need to wait till the PC is free.
  • We would encourage as many people as possible to turn up early, before commencement of play.
