The Melbourne Smashers is an inclusive club that welcomes those from the LGBTQIA+ community along with their allies, providing a safe space in which people can play a great sport and socialise.

That said, participation in Club sessions and events is restricted to adults, namely those aged 18 and above. If you are younger than 18 and keen to get involved in badminton among like minded folks, we recommend contacting Proud2Play to identify a youth group with whom to play in the interim.

Our sessions are open to everyone and we welcome all gender identities and orientations. If you have any questions relating to your visit, please reach out to us on chat or email to discuss.  Our aim is to ensure all members and guests feel safe at the club.

Court fees for guest players are $18. You can pay at the beginning of the session. Please note we only accept credit card.
Court fees for members are $12.

We welcome players of all abilities. There are always different skilled players in the club, and our court allocation system means you can choose to be matched up with players of your ability.

We pride ourselves on being an open and welcoming club to all. If you have never played before, we can show you the ropes and run occasional coaching sessions for beginners. If you have any concerns about your first time, please reach out to us via chat or email. We also have accredited coaches in the club who can be hired privately if you are looking to improve your skills.

We have racquets for you to borrow, we also supply high quality feather shuttles to use.

We only play doubles matches due to court constraints and the number of people attending each session.

We play most Sunday afternoons (2pm-4pm), Tuesday Evenings (7:30-9:30pm) and Thursday Evenings (7:00pm-9:pm). However, these are subject to change based on court availability. Please Check our Playing Calendar to confirm each session.

At the moment we only play at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park.

There are four possible reasons you can’t see the date you want to register for:

1. We are not playing on that date. Check the Playing Calendar to confirm.

2. Registrations aren’t open yet. Registration usually open six days before the session.

3. The session is full. We only have a limited number of places available for guests for each session.

4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are restricted to members only.

Please drop us an email MelbourneSmashers@gmail.com if you have any issues registering

In a typical week:
